How can the University of Michigan encourage and facilitate eating seasonally among students in the residential dining halls?
What is local and sustainable food?
The University of Michigan defines local food as food from with a 250 mile radius of the university.

Sustainable food, according to the university, is food that meets one of the following guidelines:
- Locally grown
- Certified as sustainable or organic by a third party
- Hormone or antibiotic free
- Free range chicken or eggs
- Grass fed or pasture raised meats
- Comes from a sustainable fishery
